ASSISTANT HEAD CHEF

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Head Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, creativity in menu planning, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Assistant Head Chef will assist with inventory management and ensure smooth service during peak hours. VAC. 13/2025 ASSISTANT HEAD CHEF
Reporting to the Manager Food and Beverages, your primary responsibilities are to:
• Deliver consistent high-quality products, following standard recipe specifications for patient meals and specials for the hospital cafeteria.
• Assist the Manager F&B to operate the department within budget and profit margins buy serving cost effective and nutritious meals.
• Maintaining stock levels of raw materials and preparing food and place as well as completing orders as directed.
• Assist the Head of F&B prepare weekly menus fir patients and staff.
• Manage time by ensuring food requirements are prepared in line with deadlines.
• Speak and interact daily with patients when taking meal orders in a pleasant and approachable manner.
• Develop, implement, and maintain food preparation checklists in line with the HASAWA plan, government regulations and legislation.
• Update personal knowledge of legislative updates by researching and reading relevant handouts provided by the senior supervisor.
The successful applicant preferably should have the following:
• Cooking Trade Certificate 3 or Diploma in a similar role from a recognized institution.
• 7- 10 years’ experience in a similar role
• Strong Communication and leadership skills.
• Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, food service management software.
• Up to date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes
• Working knowledge of HAWASA (Health and Safety at Work Act)
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
