VAC. 41/2025 LEGAL OFFICER
Reporting to the Head of Governance, Risk and Audit, your primary responsibilities are to:
- Provide in-house legal advice to management and departments on matters relating to hospital operations, contracts, regulatory compliance, and employment law.
- Review and draft legal documents including agreements, contracts, policies, MOUs, and legal correspondence.
- Maintain a central register of legal agreements and ensure timely renewals or terminations as required.
- Manage and coordinate legal claims and disputes in collaboration with external legal counsel where necessary.
- Respond to legal notices, subpoenas, and regulatory inquiries in consultation with senior management.
- Support the Governance, Risk, and Audit Department in developing policies that ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise with government agencies, regulatory authorities, and legal bodies on matters affecting the hospital.
- Contribute to the enhancement of internal governance frameworks, particularly in areas of legal risk.
- Assist in legal risk assessments and implementation of controls to reduce exposure.
The successful applicant preferably should have the following:
- A recognized degree in Law (LLB or equivalent).
- Admission to practice law in Fiji or eligibility for admission.
- Minimum 3 years of legal practice experience, preferably with exposure to healthcare, corporate, or administrative law.
- Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
