We are seeking for skilled and experienced Housekeeping Attendant (Locum) to ensure the overall cleanliness of the hospital is maintained up to clinical standards and to ensure the completion of all housekeeping department duties for the day.

VAC 51/2025 HOUSEKEEPING ATTENDANT (LOCUM)

Reporting to the Team Leader – Housekeeping, your primary responsibilities are to:

  • Ensure the overall cleanliness of the hospital is maintained up to clinical and infection control standards.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of all hospital areas.
  • Operate a variety of mechanized cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintain the facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition by thoroughly washing, disinfecting, and replacing linens, furnishings, fixtures, and medical equipment where applicable.
  • Handle the proper segregation, collection, and disposal of general and clinical waste, including sharps and biohazard materials, in compliance with hospital regulations.
  • Promptly and professionally respond to requests from patients, hospital staff, and visitors, ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining privacy, dignity, and patient comfort.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel immediately.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies and procedures, especially those related to workplace health and safety, infection control, confidentiality, hygiene protocols, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

The successful applicant preferably should have the following:

  • Certificate in Housekeeping Services and related field of work
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in housekeeping/hospitality work
  • Knowledge of OHS Regulations will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of proper handling of cleaning chemicals
  • Good customer service principles
  • Good communication skills and strong team player.
  • Able to undertake shift work.
  • Personal qualities such as compassion, resourcefulness, stamina, motivation, and perseverance.

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
