VAC. 17/2026 PHARMACY ASSISTANT

Reporting to the Manager Pharmacy, your primary responsibilities are to:

  • Assist in accurately preparing and dispensing medications, including counting tablets, measuring liquids, and labelling prescriptions. At times assist typing prescription under pharmacist supervision.
  • Ensure that all dispensed medications comply with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Checking the Dispensary voicemail on a regular basis and promptly dealing with queries from patients
  • Address patient inquiries and concerns under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Assist in maintaining the pharmacy’s inventory by monitoring stock levels, organizing products, and ensuring the proper storage of medications.
  • Participate in ordering and receiving pharmaceutical supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to review and process medication orders.
  • Collection of prescription charges and billing correctly. Knowledge and experience in revenue collection and balancing would be an advantage.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation through monthly submission of reports to Pharmacy Manager.
  • Adhere to all legal and ethical standards governing pharmacy practice.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.

The successful applicant preferably should have the following:

  • Certificate or Diploma Qualification would be an advantage or equivalence).
  • Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in similar role in the private or public sector.
  • Experience in pharmacy operations.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and other electronic pharmacy inventory control systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural environment.
  • Ability to do shift work, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Has ability to interact well with people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Sound knowledge and application of the relevant pharmaceutical laws, polices and guidelines

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
