NURSE SUPERVISOR – PEDIATRICS

The incumbents must be highly attentive to detail, well organized and capable of working efficiently in a private healthcare setting, and work with patients of diverse backgrounds to
provide the best nursing care. The suitable candidate(s) should be able to anticipate/support the medical professional through various phases of patient management.
INTERNAL VAC. 12/2026 NURSE SUPERVISOR – PEDIATRICS
Reporting to the Senior Consultant & Head of Paediatrics and Neonatology’ your primary responsibilities are to:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Paediatrics Unit to ensure efficient and effective patient care delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff within the Paediatrics, PICU, and NICU units.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies, infection control protocols, and patient safety procedures.
- Allocate nursing staff duties and prepare duty rosters to ensure adequate staffing coverage.
- Provide direct nursing care for paediatric patients when required, including critically ill neonates and children.
- Administer medications and oversee doctor-prescribed treatment plans in accordance with hospital policies.
- Ensure patient charts and electronic health records (EHR) are updated accurately and timely.
- Provide high-quality patient care and is careful and attentive.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges of paediatric patients.
- Collaborate closely with consultants, doctors, allied health professionals, and other departments to ensure continuity of care.
- Prepare departmental reports and maintain accurate records relating to staffing, incidents, and patient care activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional nursing ethics and standards at all times.
The successful applicant preferably should have the following:
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognised institution.
- Fiji registered nurse with a valid practicing license with Fiji Nursing Council
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse – Pediatrics
- Work experience in PICU / NICU care and have the requisite experience in nursing aspects of ventilators and ventilation.
- Qualified in Basic Life Support. PALS/ NALS would be an added advantage.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the registered nurse and paeds scope of practice, Fiji Nursing Act, Nurses Code of Conduct and Child Welfare Act
- Sound knowledge and competence in obstetric and neonatal emergencies and neonatal resuscitation
- Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
