CLINICAL COUNSELLOR

We are seeking a service-oriented, engaging, experienced Clinical Counsellor to join our clinical team. The Clinical Counsellor is responsible for providing professional mental health and emotional support services to patients, families, and hospital staff. Based in the hospital, this role involves conducting psychological assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based counselling interventions.
VAC. 18/2025 CLINICAL COUNSELLOR
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer your primary responsibilities are to:
- Provide individual and group counselling for patients experiencing emotional, psychological, and behavioural challenges related to illness, trauma, or hospitalization.
- Offer mental health support and stress management strategies for hospital staff, promoting workplace well-being.
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to identify psychological concerns in patients.
- Provide immediate psychological first aid during emergencies, critical incidents, or traumatic events.
- Provide training programs for clinical staff on stress management, burnout prevention, and trauma-informed care.
- Provide psychosocial support to families, helping them navigate emotional challenges associated with patient care.
- Submit regular reports on counselling services, patient progress, and mental health initiatives.
- Responsible for providing comprehensive pre-operation and post-operation support to ensure optimal patient care and recovery.
The successful applicant preferably should have the following:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in clinical psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
- Certification in clinical counselling, trauma-informed care, or mental health interventions preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in clinical counselling, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Experience in crisis intervention, trauma counselling, or psychosocial support.
- Familiarity with multidisciplinary healthcare environments and working alongside medical professionals.
- Must be flexible to work in a 24-hour hospital environment
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
