We are looking for a qualified, competent, and passionate individual to join our Facilities team as Driver. The ideal candidate will drive the company vehicle for transportation of documents and laboratory specimens when required and undertake maintenance of facilities and equipment.

VAC. 30/2025 DRIVER

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, your primary responsibilities are to:

  • Be responsible for picking up and delivering lab specimens, requisitions, patient histories, charts and records. The incumbent may, for instance, bring X-rays and other images from the radiology department to a physician’s office.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required
  • Coordinate the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service.
  • Operate assigned hospital vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, delivery forms, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records that are requested from the management.
  • Required to work without direct supervision on routine tasks, e.g. general maintenance and groundskeeping duties.

The successful applicant preferably should have the following:

  • Completion of High School Certification
  • Trade Certificate in a similar discipline
  • 3-4 years’ experience in a similar role
  • A valid driving license and Defensive Driving Course Certificate would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OHS regulations
  • Ability to undertake shift work and attend to urgent hospital matters.
  • Able to prioritise work.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people with different backgrounds.
  • Good Computer and report-writing knowledge.

An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
