VAC. 48/2025 NURSE ASSISTANT

Reporting to the Manager Nursing, your primary responsibilities are to:

  • Provide for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients if necessary, turning, and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Ensure patients are comfortable in bed; adjust bed settings and/or reposition/turn patient as needed
  • Take vital signs daily (weight, blood pressure, temperature) and recording in the patients files as required. record eating habits and bodily functions
  • Help transport patients, including lifting them out of bed to use a walker or wheelchair
  • Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ buzzer call lights and requests; reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor
  • Follow stringent cleanliness regimes as to preclude the possibilities of infections and other diseases.
  • Ensuring the safety of the patients and reporting any unsafe conditions to the appropriate authorities.
  • Any other duties assigned by your supervisor from time to time.
  • Monitor and record patient daily activities; report any drastic changes to a nurse or physician

The successful applicant preferably should have the following:

  • Certificate in Nursing or Caregivers qualification from an accredited caregiver’s institution
  • 4-5 years’ experience in Nursing or Care Giving
  • Good communication, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of basic medicine and medical equipment
  • Experience in caretaking
  • Basic computer and record keeping skills
  • Good knowledge of continuous quality improvement, infection control and risk management
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people with different backgrounds.
  • The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
