We are seeking skilled, experienced Operating Theatre Nurses (Locum) to join our Operating Theatre team. The incumbents must be highly attentive to detail, well organized and capable of working efficiently in a private healthcare setting and working with patients of diverse backgrounds to provide pre/post and during surgical procedure care. The suitable candidates should be able to anticipate/support the surgical professionals through various phases of an operation.
VAC. 21/2025 OPERATING THEATRE NURSE [2] (LOCUM)
Reporting to the Team Leader Operating Theatre, your primary responsibilities are to:
- Patient Safety – Ensuring patient well-being before, during, and after surgery, including proper positioning, infection prevention, and monitoring.Sterility & Infection Control – Maintaining aseptic conditions to prevent surgical site infections.
- Team Coordination – Facilitating communication between surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other staff.
- Equipment & Instrument Management – Ensuring all necessary tools are available, functional, and sterile.
- Emergency Preparedness – Being ready to respond to complications or unexpected events.
- Documentation & Compliance – Keeping accurate records of procedures, patient care, and adherence to protocols.
The successful applicant preferably should have the following:
- Degree/diploma in Nursing from a recognised institution
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience as Operating theatre Nurses.
- Valid annual practicing license and valid Fiji Nursing Council general nurse registration with Competent knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and supplies.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of patient’s information.
- Good knowledge of continuous quality improvement, infection control and risk management
- Able to set priorities successfully and work with minimal supervision
- Possess a high level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to communicate and care for wide range of customers from diverse backgrounds
- Flexibility to undertake shift work and attend to on-calls
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
