The role is to support management of pharmacy services, take responsibility for planning, organizing, and coordinating pharmacy operations in addition to compounding and dispensing pharmaceutical drugs and prescriptions.

VAC. 10/2025 PHARMACIST (LOCUM)
Reporting to the Manager Pharmacy, your primary responsibilities are to:
- Review each order from the physician to verify and confirm to procedural and clinical requirements; accuracy and appropriateness of drug, dosage, and route and to detecting therapeutic incompatibilities of drug interactions.
- Dispensing medications from a direct copy of the physician’s order with 100% accuracy.
- Compounding of medication when required by using standard formularies whiles ensuring proper labelling and packaging.
- Controlling of drug therapies and advising interventions when indicated (inpatient & outpatients)
- Consult and advise doctors on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper storage conditions.
- Ensuring rational drug use by monitoring drug use and prescribing patterns and reporting to the Pharmacy Manager in the event of any drug use concerns/issues.
- Ensuring that the dispensing and manufacturing records are appropriately maintained accordingly to legal requirements and institutional policies and procedures.
- Ensuring patient billing is updated and hospital location imprest drug are replaced on daily basis.
- Inventory Management – Stock Entry and Inventory Control for Inpatient & Outpatient.
- Dispensing of Drug Charts (Inpatient and discharge orders) with 100% accuracy,
- Ensure Prime customer service approach and handling of medication orders on a daily basis.
The successful applicant preferably should have the following:
- Bachelors in pharmacy
- 3- 5 years’ experience in similar role in the private sector
- Able to maintain confidentiality of patient’s information.
- Good knowledge of continuous quality improvement, infection control and risk management
- Have a high level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
- The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
- Good IT skills (MS Office Suite)
An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate commensurate with qualifications and experience.
