REGISTERED NURSE – DIALYSIS

We are seeking a skilled, experienced Dialysis Nurse to join our Nursing team. The incumbent must be highly attentive to detail, well organized and capable of working efficiently in a private healthcare setting, and work with patients of diverse backgrounds to provide the best nursing care. The suitable candidate should be able to anticipate/support the medical professional through various phases of patient management.
VAC. 11/2026 REGISTERED NURSE – DIALYSIS
Reporting to the Dialysis Nurse Supervisor, your primary responsibilities are to:
- Provide safe and effective haemodialysis treatment to patients in accordance with established clinical protocols and standards.
- Incorporate health education and health promotion within clinical practice through providing verbal and written information to patients, relatives, and careers.
- Maintain effective communication with patients/relatives/careers and other members of the team to ensure that appropriate information is shared, and patient needs are meet.
- Perform pre-dialysis assessment including vital signs, weight, vascular access assessment, and review of laboratory results.
- Prepare and operate dialysis machines, ensuring correct setup, priming, and disinfection procedures are followed.
- Initiate, monitor, and terminate dialysis treatments while closely observing patients for complications or adverse reactions. Initiating care of troubleshooting and discontinuing of dialysis treatment
- Assessing fistula site prior to inserting arterial venous fistula needles into fistula for commencement of dialysis treatment.
- Administer prescribed medications, including anticoagulants and emergency drugs, as per physician’s orders.
- Educate patients and families on dialysis care, dietary restrictions, fluid management, and home care instructions.
The successful applicant preferably should have the following:
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing from an accredited and approved institution.
- Valid annual practicing license and registered as a general nurse with the Fiji Nursing Council
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience as Renal Nurse
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient’s information.
- Good decision-making skills and ready to work in emergency situations under tremendous pressure.
- Good knowledge of continuous quality improvement, infection control and risk management
- Ongoing performance development involvement
- Excellent Communication & Customer Service Skills
- Has ability to interact well with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
